JUMP! in London

O projektu

2023 – A year of many accomplishments #1:

In April, a good friend and Israeli architect, Shiraz, called me to ask if she could refer me to a client. In London. It was an entrance hall to an office building where over 600 people work in Soho, in the city center. The building is called Waverley House and the hall already had a wall with wavy elements, reminiscent of water.

The client got in touch and Shiraz provided all the architectural and aesthetic support as he has a lot of experience. We were in doubt between my abstract and figurative works. When they saw the Jumper! piece, it was settled. The original piece is 80X27 and we went for 180X60. Three pieces, but this time they would hang from the ceiling. Then came the technical part and the part that made me grow a lot.

Here in the Crystal Valley, we have the best professionals in all the technologies that support glass production. From technologists, builders, blacksmiths, cardmakers, and cabinetmakers. This takes our work to the next level.

It was a new experience, using my heat-proof papier mache and metal sheets in these proportions for the first time. They gave me carte blanche to create the installation. I decided to make a cartoon, the movement of the diver, the universal sensation of throwing yourself into the water and taking a deep dive. I like the result I’ve already been achieving in smaller sizes. This time BIG! After that came the transportation process. The crate was left here on Sunday, with the help of neighbors, and on Friday, Radek and I left for London to install it. But it’s not all flowers… Unfortunately, because of the war, neither Shiraz nor the client could make it. That part was very frustrating.

The firm’s administrator was there with the crew waiting for us and for the first time, I saw the space where JUMP! was to live. Thanks to the precision of the system that Lukaš had created and the administrator had prepared, in just over an hour JUMP! was in place. My first major glass installation outside the European Union, in a publicly accessible place, is an example of how well my work can be applied in conjunction with architecture.

JUMP! In London- triptic – float glass and metal sheets cast and slumped over RH mold. Each piece 180 X 60 cm
