The son of a fisherman from a village on a small island did not want to be a fisherman like his father, but wanted the freedom to swim like a dolphin.

At the same time, a messenger ran to take a message from a from one village to another, and as he stood at the edge of the cliff, he cast his shadow on the water. Triton saw the shadow and fell in love with the image.

Then one very hot day, the messenger refreshed himself in the water and Triton, seeing the thirst of his beloved, made an amphora out of sand in which he drew his silhouette and filled it with water that turned sweet.
